The 54th GRAMMY's 2012 will air tonight. While one could quibble with the selections and omissions, it is music's biggest night, akin to the Oscars for movies. While it is mainstream and pop music that dominates, the academy sometimes recognizes alternative and indie music.
There are also some great unexpected performances. One of my favorite GRAMMY performances, for the white hot version of
Death Letter (Son House cover) by The White Stripes in 2004. They switch gears at about 2 minutes in. Beck's intro is classic, too. What did he say?
