Color Me Obsessed, a film about The Replacements is currently steaming for free on youtube, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Check it out at the link below,if you can. Kinda brilliant, kinda dumb, kinda Replacements

While we're all, you know... waiting for The End of The World. A couple of my favorite songs about the apocalypse. I'd recommend both discs mentioned below, but you might want to get to your local record store quick, just in case. Elvis Costello and the Imposters performing "Waiting for the end of the World", "Radio Radio" and "Mystery Dance" live in Memphis. The original end of the world song appears on the excellent My Aim is True (1977).
R.E.M. performing "It's the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)" from MTV Unplugged. The original song appears on their excellent Document (1987).
The 121212 Concert had it's moments, but for my money this song is a more fitting tribute to NYC. Donate to the Sandy Relief effort at 121212concert.org
The Lumineers and their song are blowing up,
as they say. They're selling out most shows on their current tour, including Feb 13 at the House of Blues. They got a few mentions on ABC's wildly popular 'Nashville' show last week, as local bands competed to open for them.
Glad I got to see them at Toad last October.
Update: The Lumineers will be the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on Jan 19, 2013
Official trailer for 'Sound City', a documentary on the legendary LA recording studio, by first time director Dave Grohl. The studio operated from 1970 to 2011 and many famous albums were recorded there. More info at soundcitymovie.com
