Green Day Boston 1994

This week's free Aerosmith concert at their old apartment building at 1325 Comm Ave in Allston looked like a lot of fun. I had to work, but was able to stream it on their website at my desk while having lunch. They did lots of old songs and really sounded great. It was broadcast by AXS.tv who also carried the Americana Music Awards earlier in the year.

The concert reminded me of the free Green Day show in 1994 that turned into a slight riot before they pulled the plug. I was at that one and while the music wasn't as hoped, it was an experience. My first indication that it was going to be big was seeing the lines of people getting on the train at Alewife. They finally just let everyone go for free.


The Phoenix listed the show as #6 in their 40 Greatest Concerts in Boston History. The film clip below comes from the upcoming documentary "We Want The Airwaves: The WFNX Story" and tells the story...
